Where Rivers Meet is a collaborative mural by Cara Sanders, also known as Owlet, and Brad Turner, created for the Local Burleigh in 2022.
Inspired by the nearby Burleigh Headland, the work reimagines the local landscape as a flowing abstract composition. Viewed from above, layered lines and fields of turquoise, sea green, ochre and sand echo the contours of the headland, its waterways, rocky edges and surrounding coastline.
Painted across the venue’s wall, the organic forms converge, divide and sweep across the surface, suggesting the meeting of land and water. Sanders described it as a fun, free-flowing wall to paint, a quality reflected in the mural’s movement and evolving shapes.
